Cal:
Have you had someone talk about suicide?
Leasha:
Yes.
Cal:
Same, I’ve had it messaged to me.
Leasha:
Yeah, see that’s heavy as well.

I think if that was happening that’s definitely something that should be brought to all of the admins or all of the Hosts attentions – especially if you’re having something directly sent to you.

But, somebody who’s in Club mentioning suicide or bringing it up…

I think it’s important to let them know that they are in a safe space

and that while we’re not medical professionals, we definitely are there
to try to support them in the best way that we possibly can
Cal:
Yeah,

And I think that on top of that; so that we as Hosts – as Leaders – feel safe.

It’s also having those 👉 Crisis Hotline links 👈 on hand, like links to particularly Lifeline and BeyondBlue – and obviously in your pack you’ve got that.

So, giving them those direct links to say “look” and to remind them “I’m not a medical or health professional, but I care a lot about you and I’m hearing what you’re saying.

So, as part of you know giving you follow-up support, I want you to take note and look at these Crisis Hotlines for yourself.”
Leasha:
Yep, absolutely.

And then as a Host (i.e. Barista) come straight into the host chat that we have, so we can all discuss it afterwards so that you’re not feeling as though you’ve just had this really heavy club and that you’re alone.

Because again, we’re all here for each other.

So, make sure you do that.

Totally. [Music]
Cal:
Totally.
